Challenge 22

Today sees the start of challenge 22 over at 'A Gem of a Challenge'

Rebekah is the host and she has given us this lovely sketch to follow

Lovely Lisa has joined us as a permanent designer on the team and we also have the wonderful Mel as special guest designer this month

Here is my take on the sketch

I have used the latest Pink Gem Designs freebie digi

I  used the already coloured version for my card as I spent a lot of time designing her yesterday.......so was running short on time when it came to making my DT card

I should be more organised I know.......but easier said than done lol!

I Keep Trying!

Well I keep on trying........and it isn't going to beat me.....although it is giving me a giggle or two lol!

Here is my second Fimo attempt.....well third actualy if you count the test ball with one eye I baked on Tuesday evening rofl

One of the hardest things working with this stuff is remembering to clean your hands, utensils and surface before swapping colours

I feel I have improved a 'little' bit.....found it a bit easier to handle today and was aware of my nails....think I need to cut them off lol

Want A Laugh!

Yes I can here you giggling from here lol!

Here is my first Fimo character.......this is not as easy as it looks!

Got the baking bit right.....it's the creating part I need practice with rofl

Made a mistake with the eyes....the Fimo ones didn't look quite right so tried to get them/dig them out

Which you can't do with Fimo I discovered

I then  put beads in so we will pretend the marks around them are eyelashes lol

Everytime I picked him up I managed to nail mark the poor thing

I need to find a good book to help me or even better have some Fimo lessons!

I am having a terrible time trying to comment on other peeps blogs

I have been trying to say thank you to Poppet & Claire for their Fimo tips for the past two days

They have the drop down menu when you go to comment to select profile but it just won't recognise me on google account and keeps directing me to log in over and over and won't let me post

So thank you girls for your Fimo tips and also Shirley who has just commented incase I can't comment on yours either

Fimo

I bought some Fimo Soft  today......thought I would have a dabble.....been meaning to get some for ages

We have got Mimi coming in 3 weeks so thought it would be good fun for her too (as well as me lol)

Well according to the instructions you knead it build your character and bake it.....simples!

.......but I bet it's not lol!

I have a convector oven for one and it is a bit fierce....burns the food if your not careful.

Think I would be frightened to put a work of art in it lol

Now I thought there was just 'Fimo' on the market too but having a quick look online  there is Soft, Classic, and a 3rd version

I haven't got a clue what the difference is between them

So has anybody got any good tips before I start?

Is there any good books or tutorials I should have or watch

It would be great if I could re-create some of my stamp characters in clay

I used to be a dab hand with the plasticine when I was a kid so hopefuly some of my skills will come back.......fingers crossed lol

I won't be too ambitious at first though.......if I could make some little adornments for my cards I would be happy!

Wow I made a card today!

This is for a friend who is recovering from an operation

I am  entering it for Just Magnolia as I followed the sketch

Saving Daisy

Just look at this darling little dog

She is called Daisy and she belongs to Tom a little boy who has Aspergers

Unfortunately Toms family are faced with a vet bill of £1600 or little Daisy has to be put to sleep

They don't have any pet insurance but little  Tom couldn't cope with the loss of his beloved pet

So to help raise the funds to make little Daisy well again Kirsty Wiseman who is a papercrafting celebrity has organised a massive craft raffle!

It's 'A Gem of a Challenge ' day today!

First I need to tell you some sad news.....Debby and Sandra are leaving the DT to spend more time doing other things

We will miss them very much.......they have produced some wonderful work for PGD

The good news is we now have the wonderful Lisa from Crafty Moments  joining us as a permanent member of our team

Lisa has been guest designer for us in the past and she makes the most gorgeous cards.....

.....she will join us from our next challenge

Had enough of 'Spring Cleaning' for today......so just popped on to tell you my news

Challenge 20

Well wasn't the 'Wedding' just lovely yesterday

Made the mistake of trying to make my DT yesterday......planned to do it in the morning before 'The Wedding' started but something else cropped up

So the result was a very rushed DT card yesterday afternoon with no inky edges or fingers in sight!

All ready coloured this little fellow about a week back and didn't know what to do with him

He had been sitting on my shelf propped against a photo frame watching me craft.......so he got quickly snaffled to save some time

I used my new papers 'Sugar & Spice' which I had finished making 'early' yesterday morning

When I say 'early' I mean about 5am lol!

Really pleased with these papers.....you can read about them in the post below

As you can see the  spotty background paper almost looks like toweling......looks great printed on linen card/paper

So the result was a very quick made clean looking card.......and all in all I am pleased with it!

I have known me spend hours on cards and still not like them when I have finished. lol
